PR Guy

So I'm sure all of you have noticed that I haven't been doing much dating lately. In all honesty, I had to take a break from the dating scene for awhile...call it the result of too many assholes and too many letdowns. Things with work have also been crazy and I've decided it's time to start job hunting (anyone looking for a graphic designer? Pick me! Pick me!), but that's a whole other story.

New Guy? Never heard from him again (motherfuckingstupidasshole), so he has been blocked and deleted from my Lava list and MSN.

When I received this e-mail in my POF inbox, I was skeptical:

I'm "PR Guy", 27, PR specialist - living downtown TO.

As you are into alternative music, I am assuming (perhaps incorrectly) that you are into Tool? Well whether you are or you aren't the album is pretty amazing. I wish I had tickets to their upcoming concert but *sigh* I was unable to get any.

On the bright side I did see Pearl Jam this week which was pretty cool... can't say I am terribly fond of their new stuff - but their older stuff oh man. Personal fav song from Pearl Jam is Evolution.

Just curious what some of your fav bands are?

Hope to chat soon.

Spelling? Check. Grammar? Check. Good taste in music? Check. Sigh...it was time to come out of hibernation.

We e-mailed each other a few times and we seemed to connect rather well, so I agreed to meet up with him last Thursday.

I saw him sitting on a bench at Yonge and Eglinton, where we had agreed to meet. Cute? Check. Well-dressed? Check. Hug? Check.

We walked down the street to Philthy McNasty's to have a couple drinks on the patio, and I mentioned that my family lives in London.

"London, Ontario?" he asked.

"I told you I'm from Ingersoll, right?"

I literally started choking and said, "Wait, WHAT?"

Let me explain the choking - my mom is from Ingersoll. I have family in Ingersoll. I spend most holidays in Ingersoll. I told him as much and we looked at each other.

"Wow...small world," he said.

"You think?" I replied.

And thus began one of the most decent dates I'd had in a long time. Super nice guy, morals and values appeared to be intact, and he knew about things like the Crazy Fries at Fast Eddie's in London (two words people: chili and cheese)!

We ended up at the bar until almost one in the morning -- I had NO idea that much time had gone by, and afterwards, we took the subway to my station and he walked me home and kissed me goodnight.

We have talked every day since...had plans to go out tonight for more drinks and play some pool, but we had to postpone until Wednesday due to the TTC strike (neither of us owns a car, because we live in the GTA).

So I guess we'll just see what happens...

Oh, and while I'm here, I would also like to take a moment to "shout out" to Paulo (aka "Chief"), my favourite Santa Clauzje :)
